Suite e lodge
With its botanic parkland of more than 3 hectares that extends into the olive grove and scrubland, Poggio ai Santi offers plenty of space. A total of more than 35 hectares set against the hillside, where the sea and the islands of Elba and Corsica are like an ever-changing picture. The pool offers unparalleled view of the promontory of Populonia, an ancient Etruscan city. Silence is the hallmark of this unique hillside overlooking the coast and the sea, just 5km from beaches and the motorway (45 minutes from Pisa airport and 75 minutes from Florence airport). The Suites are clustered in different sites around the parkland, providing space and intimacy.
The Farmhouse: It is the heart of the farm, at the top of the Poggio. Everything revolves around this country house, built in the second half of the 18th century. Until 2005 it was inhabited by Francesca's family. The verandas, fireplaces, breath-taking views, books, and old kitchen give it a unique atmosphere. Rooms located on the first floor enjoy the view and all amenities within walking distance. We left the house as it was, as it was lived in for years by our family. The feeling is that of arriving at your own country house, to be lived in and enjoyed simply and with sharing, as if it had been in the family since forever....
The Garden: This outbuilding a stone's throw from the farm was originally the stables, then it was converted into the caretakers' quarters, and in 1996 it was transformed into three units, each enjoying their own garden space.
The Villa dates back to 2005, and it took two years of searching to recover original materials, beams, doors, gates and old stone stairs to be integrated into a totally bio-architectural construction. The building is a mix of wooden, cork and kenaf (Hibiscus Cannabinus) fibre bricks, complemented by classic Tuscan ceilings with chestnut beams and handmade terracotta bricks. All rooms have beautiful terraces to enjoy. Its southwest-facing exposure gives it a view of the Gulf of Baratti and 80 metres behind it is the pine forest in the parkland.
The Natura Lodge and Natura Superior Lodge: These are our latest births. Our donkeys were the ones who chose the locations for these lodges. They were "placed" in the areas where the donkeys had chosen to sleep. Certainly, a protected, healthy spot with lots of energy. They were designed to blend into the beautiful Mediterranean scrub surrounding the farm's park, with majestic oak trees, ancient olive trees, huge myrtle and mastic bushes, and wild herbs such as helichrysum, catmint and rosemary perfume in the air. Not a branch was cut to build them. The building, made entirely of wood, glass and travertine was built by local craftsmen completely on site, precisely to respect and protect the beauty of the place. The view from the bed and the large wooden platforms is incomparable.
